THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Our Spanish language school in Santander founded in 1980 is a well established school, open all year round. It is a fully accredited school with the reputation of providing a blend of high-level language instruction, a friendly atmosphere and a wide range of services.

The language school is situated in the centre of Santander, 5 minutes from the railway station and the beaches. The school has well-equipped classrooms with audio and video facilities, and a student common-room where you can relax, talk, drink coffee and read magazines or newspapers with other students.

There is a library with access to a wide variety of materials to help you practice reading, writing and grammar, at your own pace. Facilities include cassette players, videos and computers.

In our conference room, guest speakers give talks on language topics and on subjects of international interest that students often discuss later in their classes.

Family accommodation: Sharing in a family's daily routine, offers an excellent way to be directly exposed to Spanish culture as well as the Spanish language. All the families who are involved with us will treat you as a member of the family. They will contribute to your learning process in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Full board includes breakfast and dinner with the family and packed lunches during school days and weekend trips/activities. Washing of clothes included.

Shared flats: Centrally-located apartments. Recommended for independent people over eighteen. Very comfortable apartments near the school some of them with beautiful views over the sea. All facilities included.

Hotels: We will be very pleased to provide you with information about them and to make reservation when you enrol.

	SPANISH COURSES IN SANTANDER ________________


	>> TEACHING METHODS The teaching program has been carefully designed to provide a progressive course with a good balance between the various new skills and reinforcement of the new points introduced every day. We use up-to-date resources and our modern teaching methods encourage self-study. Our well qualified teachers are always on hand to give students individual advice, and the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere enhances the learning experience.

		:: INTENSIVE COURSES >> Course 20h Daily: 4 lessons Levels: all The course consists of 20 lessons per week (50. minutes per lesson). Lessons are from 9.00 to 13.30 with a half an hour break. The course includes also conversation and cultural activities in the afternoon and optional excursions at the weekends. >> Course 30h Daily: 6 lessons This course is based on the intensive Spanish course 20h and students will be in the same classes for the first 4 hours lessons each day. Afterwards, students on the superintensive Course have an extra 2 hours lesson per day of practice and consolidation of the work introduced to the whole in class. >> Course 25h (Spanish + culture) Daily: 5 lessons levels: This course is based on the intensive Spanish course 20h and students will be in the same classes for the first 4 hours lessons each day. Afterwards, students have an extra hour (generally in the afternoon) per day of Spanish Culture in and outside the classroom: * Geography * History * Art * Festivals and Traditions * Gastronomy As part of the price of the course, the cultural activities include visits to places of special interest, free transport and free entries. A teacher guide who will accompany you during the visits to explain everything you want to know or to answer questions.


	>> LEVELS On the first day of school, students who already have some previous knowledge of Spanish will be level-tested to ensure correct placement from the beginning. Lessons start immediately after the test. All levels are offered from Beginners to Advanced. Our 5 levels follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages and the guidelines of Instituto Cervantes. Students completing their courses successfully will be granted the diploma and academic report which certifies the type of course, the number of hours studied and the level of proficiency attained.

		:: TAYLOR MADE COURSES >> One-to-one / private tuition These courses are for students who wish to focus on a particular problem or who need extra practice in certain language skills. We can also arrange individual tuition at any time of the year, from one to thirty hours per week. Your timetable can be as intensive as you wish. We will help you to design a course of study to suit your exact requirements. >> Course 20+5h / Course 20+10h Daily: 5/6 lessons The standard course of 20 lessons per week in small groups, plus an extra 5 or 10 private classes of Spanish a week. An intensive Spanish language course aimed at students with time restrictions or who want to deepen their knowledge in a particular area.




		>> GUARANTEE OF QUALITY Spanish courses in Santander are offered all year round and include a full language, cultural and activity programme. There is a maximum of 8 students in each class. Our qualified and experienced language teachers are young, native Spaniards, who all hold degrees in Spanish philology.

Daily: 5 lessons (Course 20h+1 lesson one-to-one) >> DELE exam preparation The 'Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera -DELE-', issued by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry for Education, are official qualifications accrediting levels of competence and command of the Spanish language. >> Business Spanish Our Business Spanish Course in Santander is first and foremost based on knowledge already acquired, extending specific vocabulary and achieving a better command of the language on any specific topic. All Spanish for business language training is given as private classes, which can be individually added to the Standard Spanish group course. >> Medical Spanish This Spanish medical course is ideal for doctors who want to enjoy wonderful holidays in Santander and, at the same time, gain an in-depth knowledge of how medicine works in Spanish-speaking countries. The course includes vocabulary specific for the evaluation and care of patients, diagnoses and discussions focusing to cultural competencies. >> Legal Spanish The main focus of this specialised Spanish course will be learning legal and documental terminology. Role-play of legal situations, along with analysis of real facts, will provide the student with a greater understanding and use of legal proceedings in a Spanish context.
