The Universidad de Salamanca is the oldest university of Spain and one of oldest Europe - she was created in the year 1218. The Plaza Mayor, a former bullfighting arena, applies with 4,400 square meters not only as of largest, but also most beautiful place Spain.

Each month our school prepares a detailed programme of FREE activities:
- A guided tour of the city on the first day of each month.
- Four lectures every week (art, history, literature, Spanish regions)
- Films in Spanish each week.
- Sport activities (tennis, bowling, football...)
- Each week a party in a local pub-disco with one free drink.

and some activities at a small extra price:
- A farewell dinner on the last day of each month.
- Classes in traditional Spanish dances.
- Weekend excursions to Toledo, Ávila, Madrid, Segovia, Zamora…

THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Our school of Spanish in Salamanca is situated in the heart of the city, in a historical building, 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor.

It has been recently restored, and equipped with the latest technology; 20 air-conditioned classrooms, a video and conference room, library and an information room with free internet access. There is also a spacious enclosed patio with a typical Castilian well where you can relax with a coffee and chat to friends during the breaks.

Our language school in Salamanca is best characterised by its authentic international ambience with a complete programme of extra-curricular activities, most of which are free for our students.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Arrival: Sunday
Depature: Saturday

School residence: It is in the city centre, 5 minutes walk from the Plaza Mayor and 10 minutes from the school. It has 42 bedrooms, double and individual, three sitting rooms, a patio and all modern facilities. You can choose between a single or double room, at half or full board. Students must bring their own towels. The residence provides bedclothes. Facilities for washing clothes are included in the price.

Family accommodation: All the families that take in our students have been carefully chosen and we guarantee that they will treat you very well, with quality food and a nice clean houses. You can choose between a single or double room, at half or full board.

Shared flats: These flats have a double room and 2 or 3 single rooms, a bathroom, kitchen and sitting- room.

All our families, like our flats, residences and the hotels that work with us, are located in the city centre, a maximum of 20 minutes walk on foot to the Plaza Mayor and the school.

>> TEACHING METHODS

Our philosophy is to offer the best service at a reasonable price. To this end our learning groups are small (maximum nine students per class), we guarantee nine learning levels, ten different kinds of course, five different accommodation options and a social program which includes parties, excursions, guided tours, sports and more.

Tutorials (free!): If a student cannot keep up with the learning pace of his/her fellow students, or has not understood a topic very well, they can be given an extra individual class with new explanations and exercises. The objective of the tutorials is to ensure that all of the groups have the same level of learning and are equally intense and benefical for everyone.

:: INTENSIVE COURSES

Daily: 4 lessons; Levels: 1-9

This is the most suitable course for the majority of students. An intensive course that allows you to learn quickly and to participate in the school´s programmed activities where you will continue to learn. During the first two hours, you will be taught various grammatical themes and they will be supported by a variety of exercices. The following two hours will be devoted to conversation: oral and written expression, vocabulary, idioms, comprehensions...

10:00 - 12:00: Grammar
12:00-14:00: Conversation

Monday: Colloquial conversation

Friday: Spanish cooking

:: BUSINESS SPANISH
Daily: 2 hs a day; 4 weeks
Levels: 5-9

An ideal course to expand your knowledge of commercial language. Designed for companies, executives, students of economics and tourism…

1st hour: Commercial correspondence, types of letters, C.V.s
2nd hour: Analysis and discussion of contemporary articles from specialized economic publications. Spain before the E.U., topics on Macro and Microeconomics.
With afternoon classes you can also take a standard language course in the morning. .

:: SPECIAL COURSES
Daily: 5 lessons

= Course 20h + 1 lesson a day of:

Conversation: Colloquial expressions, debates and discussions on current texts. Students who have a beginners level of Spanish will be familiarized with basic vocabulary which will enable them to get around and travel in Spain independently and with confidence.

Culture: You will discover the real Spain through its history, art and economics.

Literature: From 09:00 to 10:00 hrs you will study the key centuries and styles of Spanish literature through the most significant authors and their works. Texts will be analysed, both prose and poetry; books will be recommended and literary commentaries given.

Translation: Inverse translation with four options: English-Spanish, German-Spanish, French-Spanish, Italian-Spanish. There are different types of texts worked upon in class:
newspapers, literary, social, political, economics , etc…

Tourism: Spanish Geography, Touristic resources: nature and cultural, Impact of Tourism in Spain.
