O GROVE

O Grove is a typical Galician fishing port situated on the North coast of a pretty little peninsula joined to the mainland only by a narrow strip of beach and sand dunes. Overlooking the "Ria de Arousa" and the Atlantic Ocean, O Grove is a paradise for those who love the sea and the delicacies it provides.

Galicia, often referred to as the "Green North", is situated in the north-western corner of the Iberian peninsula, where fjord-like estuaries, rolling forest-covered hills and isolated beaches protected by ancient Celtic strongholds form the main features of the landscape.

It is a region still steeped in rural tradition: - A land of superstitions, ghostly processions and magic rituals and on a more practical level it is of course also an area justly famous for its fish and seafood, for its local wines, for its spectacular coastline and for its generous and friendly inhabitants.

THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Our language school, a traditional galician building made of natural stone, is in the center of O Grove, next to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and only 2 minutes from the port. The building is completely refurbished and has modern classrooms, communal facilities and a terrace.

In O Grove we organize variable and interesting leisure and cultural activities: parties, evening meals and picnics with typical regional food and wines; sports activities: guided walks exploring the surrounding countryside; presentations on current or historic topics; trips to cinemas, markets or monuments in small groups;

During the weekends we organise excursions and guided visits to the most important local sights.

Accommodation in shared flat
Each flat has one or two double and one or two single bedrooms. Your bedroom can either be single or double, if sharing with a friend. The flats are clean and cosy and all have a shared fully-equipped kitchen (with washing machine) and sitting room (with television) and bathrooms.

Better equipped flats
In O Grove we offer the option of reserving a better equipped shared flat. These flats are more extensively furnished than typical Spanish apartments. All flats with washing machine, television, radio, CD-player, microwave, electric iron...

Family accommodation
We can also offer accommodation with carefully selected Spanish families. The stay includes half board ( breakfast and either lunch or dinner).

Our Spanish courses are designed either for very small groups or private tuition.

The classes are always focussed on conversation and practical communication. Grammar is taught in a communicative context and adapted to the specific needs of each student. Our lessons are personalised, offering a balance between grammar, writing, comprehension and oral expression.

Daily: 4 lessons

These courses are for anyone who wants to improve their Spanish! You could be a professional or a student who wants to improve your Spanish for further studies, business, or personal requirements. The courses are imaginative and stimulating and uses the most up-to-date teaching methods and materials. Based on a communicative teaching approach, class programmes focus on quickly developing effective skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Daily: 6 lessons

This course is designed for those students that wish to make a big improvement in their level of Spanish over a short period of time.

>> LEVELS

At the beginning of the course a written and oral evaluation is made. On the basis of this each student is placed in the group which suits his or her level.

All levels are offered from Beginners to Advanced. Our 6 levels follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages and the guidelines of Instituto Cervantes.

At the end of your stay you will receive a school diploma stating the duration of the course you have completed as well as the language level you have reached.

Private lessons are particularly useful to anyone who wishes to make maximum progress in their Spanish in minimum time. You choose the subjects, duration and intensity of your course. To fully utilise your class time we require you send us your personal objectives before course initiation.

Daily: 5 / 6 lessons

The standard course of 20 lessons per week in small groups, plus an extra 5 or 10 private classes a week. An intensive course aimed at students with time restrictions or who want to deepen their knowledge in a particular area.

Our teachers are all native Spanish speakers, hold a University Degree and have extensive experience in teaching Spanish language and culture to foreign students.

Each group has a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 students, so everyone can participate actively, while at the same time receiving individual attention.

Daily: 4 lessons

The Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (D.E.L.E) is the only official examination of Spanish for foreign students.
There are three levels: Initial, Basic and Superior, and the examinations can be taken at Instituto Cervantes centres worldwide, or in Spain in May and November.
Courses begin 3 months before the exam and duration is between 4 to 12 weeks, finishing a few days before the actual examination.
