Canet is situated on the Mediterranean coast between Arenys de Mar and Sant Pol de Mar, about 40km north of Barcelona.

It is a small, tranquil town and with a population of only 10,000 inhabitants and very little tourism it has all the special charm of a small coastal town.

You can see several modernist buildings built buy former "indians" (peolple who went to America to make fortune) designed for the fashionable architects of their time: Lluís Domènech i Pere Domènech.

The Mediterranean climate gives an average summer temperature of 25°C and around 300 days of sunshine a year.

The geography of the region is varied; the Pyrenees mountains to the north, vast plains in the centre and long, white sand beaches with typically Mediterranean secluded coves along the coastline.

THE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Our Spanish language school in Canet de Mar founded in 1998 is a well established summer school, open from the middle of June until the beginning of October.

The language school is situated in the centre of Canet, 250 m from the beach. The school has well-equipped classrooms with audio and video facilities, and a student common-room where you can relax, talk, drink coffee and read magazines or newspapers with other students.

Canet is the ideal location for a quiet stay where even in summer you can find some uncrowded magnificant beaches which can be appreciated with a walk along the lovely sea-front promenade.

Canet is the ideal place to practise water sport such as windsurfing or sailing, and there is a sailing club in Canet. The surrounding pine forests offer some superb walks, especially the Parque Natural del Montseny.

Shared flats: Accommodation is available in spacious, comfortable flats /apartments, where students of different nationalities can share. Between 4 and 8 people can share in any one flat / apartment, and rooms are twin or individual (a small extra fee is required for an individual room).
Bedding is provided, but you are expected to bring your own towels. All electricity and gas costs are covered by the school.
All flats / apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and shared sitting room.

Hotels: We will be very pleased to provide you with information about them and to make reservation when you enrol.

	>> TEACHING METHODS The teaching program has been carefully designed to provide a progressive course with a good balance between the various new skills and reinforcement of the new points introduced every day. 	:: INTENSIVE COURSES >> Course 20h Daily: 4 lessons Levels: all The course consists of 20 lessons per week (45. minutes per lesson). Lessons are from 9.30 to 13.00 with a half an hour break. This general Spanish course gives students the opportunity to improve their all-round ability in Spanish by focusing on grammar and vocabulary development, speaking, listening, and writing skills. Our aim is to increase the students confidence in the day-to-day use of the language. >> Course 30h Daily: 6 lessons This programme combines the morning Standard Spanish course with an afternoon mini-group course. The mini-group allows the tutor to focus on the immediate needs of the students whilst improving listening and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary and developing confidence.


		>> LEVELS On the first day of school, students who already have some previous knowledge of Spanish will be level-tested to ensure correct placement from the beginning. Lessons start immediately after the test. All levels are offered from Beginners to Advanced. Our 5 levels follow the European Framework of Reference for Languages and the guidelines of Instituto Cervantes. Students completing their courses successfully will be granted the diploma and academic report which certifies the type of course, the number of hours studied and the level of proficiency attained.

	:: TAYLOR MADE COURSES >> One-to-one / private tuition These courses are for students who wish to focus on a particular problem or who need extra practice in certain language skills. Your timetable can be as intensive as you wish. We will help you to design a course of study to suit your exact requirements.




	>> GUARANTEE OF QUALITY Spanish courses in Canet de Mar are offered in summer and include a full language, cultural and activity programme. There is a maximum of 8 students in each class. Our qualified and experienced language teachers are young, native Spaniards, who all hold degrees in Spanish philology.

		:: COMBI COURSES >> Course 20+5h / Course 20+10h Daily: 5/6 lessons The standard course of 20 lessons per week in small groups, plus an extra 5 or 10 private classes of Spanish a week. An intensive Spanish language course aimed at students with time restrictions or who want to deepen their knowledge in a particular area.
